What's the view through binoculars?
Using a pair of binoculars, you will clearly notice that ISS is not really a point of light. Instead, it may look elongated or squarish. You won't be able to see much detail, though. Moreover, it may be hard to get and keep ISS in the field of view.

I used a bird watching telescope and the information on the Heavens Above website (star chart and track for that particluar pass). I was ready for its appearance, had given myself 10 minutes for my eyes to adjust from the house liughts, and used the forecast of where in the sky it would pass into the earth's shadow. This let me track it as arrive, flew past, and the best moment of all was seeing it fade from a bright white, down to a dull deep red, and then disappear completely. Can't wait to try it again.
